Welcome home to Mooloolaba Jessica Watson

We joined in the debates as to whether Jessica Watson was old enough to follow her dream, we felt for her when she collided with the tanker on her practice run, we waved her off when she did leave our shores 7 months ago and we mapped her progress, visited her website and blogged her as she sailed her way around the world and into our hearts.

7 months on we are now ready to welcome our local hero home, the youngest person to sail solo, non-stop and unassisted around the World. We are more than ready to congratulate Jessica for the inspiration and encouragement she has instilled in us all, especially young females not just locally but also abroad. The hero status is not for Jessica but to so many or us that is exactly what she is, a modern day hero and in her we see something we all wish we had. A dream, a desire and ambition to get out there and just do it.

Jessica returns home to Mooloolaba on the 6th of June, be a part of this history making afternoon and come on down to Mooloolaba Spit where the entire marina will be a sea of pink to welcome her home. Expect to find a flotilla of boats accompanying her through the marina, people lining the Spit wall and the entire length of the water way to the Mooloolaba Yacht Club where the celebration will begin.

Don some pink and enjoy in the euphoria of this special occasion. Jessica Watson we thank you for being an inspiration and true Aussie.

Welcome home Jessica and stay a few days. Why not enjoy great Mooloolaba accommodation on the Sunshine Coast.
